Ford Repair: Escape/Tribute V6 Broken Screw on Coil, broken screw, broken bolt

Question
2002 Tribute V6: Short story, I was changing plugs and one of the screws that holds the coil packs in place broke off at the head, so there's still about 8-10mm left sticking up. It's on the front cylinder bank. I've tried penetrating oil and heating with a soldering iron, no luck, and don't want to overdo it. Other than removing the cam cover, any suggestions, like gluing the coil back on?

The other two front screws were a bit corroded, so I was probably lucky that I didn't break more of them; rears were OK; I put a drop of oil on all of them. Thank you in advance!

Answer
hey there, it is very odd that one broke at all i have never seen this. gluing the coil down is not really recomended, and leaving it loose is not an option either because vibration will ruin the coil. your best bet is to extract the broken bolt, if there is enough sticking up, this is how i do it, heat the shaft of the bolt up with a mini torch (NOT ACCETELENE) and spray with penetrating fluid when warm, then use a pair of vise grips and gently try turning out, repeat heating process with penetrating fluid as necesars, then simply install a new bolt when this is out, good luck
