Ford Repair: Brake pedal bounces and goes clunk, cv joints, abs sensor

Question
Hi Jeff, I have a 99 taurus I replaced the L front strut and pads, rotors, and caliper. Bled brakes clean fluid etc. The reason I did all this was to fix the "pulsing" every time i applied brakes. That problem was fixed but Now when i just about come to a stop the pedal bounces and makes a "clunk clunk" sound like almost hit a slippery patch of ice. This only does this when at about 20 miles an hour stopping.. Checked everything I know of and for the life of me cant figure out why its doing this. No ABS lights are on. Any ideas? Sensors or hopefully something simple?
Thanks in advance....
Kevin

Answer
Hi Kevin,
I think you may have a broken ABS sensor ring on your front axle. It is located on both the outboard CV joints. You can check it out by looking under vehicle or turning the wheel all the way in both directions. If cracked or missing a tooth you will need to pull the half-shaft out and put a new one in or have the ring pressed on by your mechanic. GOOD LUCK!

Jeff
