Ford Repair: shaking when accelorating, clogged catalytic converter, haynes manuals

Question
James,
Thank you for taking the time to help me out. I'm in a tight situation so any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!

I just bought a 1992 ford f150 with about 127K miles on it. The previous owner said that they had sent the heads (I think) off to be powder coated then the truck ran great. Then about three weeks later it started stalling at about 35 mph so they parked it for the last 10 months. I drove the truck home it never stalled and I even had it up to 45mph. The check engine light was on.  When I got it home I changed the oil and added Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer, the oil filter, spark plugs and wires, and a new break line(break fluid was leaking badly).  I also added another Lucas product to the fuel (with a fresh full tank of gas) but I can't remember what it was called. I will be changing the fuel filter one night this week. My major issue is that when I accelorate and reach about 35mph the truck starts to shake badly. If feels like it is coming from the front drivers side tire. These changes did help the shake a little, but it is still pretty bad and the check engine light is still on. Any ideas what could be causing the shaking? It is only when I accelerate?

Answer
The check engine light will probably shed some light. Have the codes read. The box is under the hood on the fender well. Instructions are in most Haynes' manuals. It could be anything from a clogged catalytic converter, to a stopped up fuel injector(s). Let me know what the codes are, and I can assist you further.
