Ford Repair: 1991 ford explorer abs, abs light, 1991 ford explorer

Question
Hello, I recently purchased a 1991 ford explorer and when I bought the vehicle he told me that the abs was out.  so when you hit the brake on that thing hard you better know how to handle it because it will roll you.  Anyway the brake light is on as well as the abs light or anti lock light which ever one it is.  I was just wondering how serious of a problem this might be and how expensive this could be.  If it is something serious I'll just keep driving it the way that it.  But if it is something stupid like a sensor or something I sure would like to fix it.  If there is anybody that has any advise on this please e-mail me back.  That would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Answer
first of all when abs light is on the system is deactivated and your vehicle reverts back to a conventional brake system-have it checked out to determine cause of lights being on-being as system is deactivated if you are having brake problems that also needs to be checked. good luck.
