Ford Repair: 1994 f150 quitting, throttle position sensor, fuel pressure regulator

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1994 Ford F150 with the 5.0liter engine.  The problem I have is that the truck is not dependable.  It will run and idle fine the all of the sudden quit or seem like it skips firing for a second and starts back running.  It is not consistant.  It has guit in the past and I had to tow it back home.  This is what I have changed: both fuel pumps, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, plugs, plug wires, distribuor cap, ignition module(inside distributor), and coil.  I believe it is the map sensor? located on the finder well on the drivers side that I had tested and they said it was good. It was a small rectangular box approximately 2X4 inches and less than 1/2 inches thick. The engine was rebuilt and has less than 100 hours on it.  I was reading another post and they suggested to clean the "bell housing" inside the distributor and make sure there is no dust inside.  I will try that next. Thank you in advance for your help.  Allen

ANSWER: please let someone check this out before you throw anymore money at it
that is a stator/pickup coil inside distributor-module is mounted on outside of dist. either or can cause this-but also throttle position sensor and engine coolant temp sensor for ecm can cause these symptoms.
why do you believe it is map sensor without testing or having it tested
(don't have much trouble with them unless vacuum supply is bad) just putting parts on makes about as much sense (unless you know for sure they are bad) as changing rt side tire because left is flat. please have it checked.

QUESTION: I am sorry, I do not believe it is the map sensor.  I was stating that I did have that tested and it was okay.  I do believe this will help me.  Would one of my local auto parts stores be able to connect it to a computer and tell me what is wrong or would I have to take it to the dealer?

Answer
a local parts store can scan 96 and up vehicles they may not be able to scan yours but if they can remember a code does not mean that component is bad it is a starting point-if you get a code 14 or 18 that could be a module or pickup coil-a code 23 could be a tps if you have any questions please email me at mandaautomotive@windstream.net with quitting in the subject line-and i can email you with my phone number so you can call with specific things to check-good luck.
