Ford Repair: replacing a starter, mercury grand marque, lifetime warranties

Question
I have a 1993, Mercury Grand Marque, V8 4.6 liter engine.
I bought it and it had 80,000 miles now she has about 150,000 miles. Out of the blue she wouldn't start I let it sit for a few hours came back and it started with no problems till one day it happened again and then began to happen all the time. So there it sits and i won't start it in fear that I won't ever be able to start it again. I had the battery and alternator tested and they were fine. when you try to start it, it makes a horrible screeching and grinding noise. So i figure it's the starter. what i need to know how to do is how to replace the starter, if it is possible to instruct me on how to find and identify it and how to pull it out and replace it. I personally won't be doing the work my husband will so no worries there.
also can you just go and buy books to tell you how to do this.

Answer
you should be able to buy a haynes manual at the local parts house-or since you have internet go to alldata.com-go to the diy section and you can buy a year subscription for that car and you will have untold amounts of info at your fingertips-i have alldata but it cost about 200.00 per month-basically undo negative cable on battery-go down to starter remove two or three bolts holding it to transmission-remove cables and take off-upper bolt may be hard to reach and if you use cheap quality tools there is a good chance you will round off the bolt-also do yourself a favor and get a good starter-that means spend a little extra it will probably last longer-lifetime warranties mean nothing to me because it's easy to lifetime warranty cheap crap because the manufacter has very little in it and they take into account most do it yourselfers won't come back more than once to replace a lifetime part. good luck.
