Ford Repair: thermostat problem, 1993 mercury tracer, mercury tracer

Question
I replaced the thermostat in my 1993 mercury tracer 1.9l engine.  its seems to be running fine.  it just does not seem to be warming up properly.  I've narrowed it down to not being sure of the proper direction of the thermostat as in i think i put it in the same position of the old one removed but i am not sure if i need to turn it one way or the other.  i am baffled and need a picture or something to figure the proper placement of the tabs(which are in the slots in the thermostat housing) or if i have to turn it around? If you could please help me with this problem as winter is approaching.

Thanks and much appreciated

Answer
i believe that thermostat will only go in one way that is with the copper or brass bulb in the block and pointed side toward the hose
as far as the rotation and where tabs are located it doesn't matter they are only there to hold stat in the hole-by warming up properly do you mean temp inside car from heater or the engine itself. if you are talking about the heater-make sure it is full of coolant-start the engine turn heater and fan on high-run until engine is warm feel both heater hoses going into car both should be hot if one is noticebly cooler then you have a clogged heater core-if you are talking about
the engine have it checked by a reputable garage. good luck.
