where does the rotor button need to point when installing the dirtirburor with #1 on TDC in a 2000 nissan xterra 3.3L

The easy to do this is to look on the original cap and find the number 1 sparkplug wire and then make sure you are close when you install the replacement distributor.  Factory is to the front and a little to the left.  But, in case someone has done a rewire on the cap they could be off one so just make sure you point yours at number one when the cap is mated to the new distributor.  Once that is done the truck should start and then you adjust the timing to the specs on the hood.  A photograph can be had at nissantechinfo.com but it costs $20 bucks to access the site for an hour.  Another option for a photograph is a Haynes Manual.
