Ford Repair: brakes, ford contour, rubber pieces

Question
I have a 1998 4 cylinder Ford Contour with 120,000 miles.  I have had the brake pads on the front replaced and the left side is not working right.  My mechanic has tried to bleed them and that causes the left side to lock up.  It will also lock and not release if you press the brake hard or if you are on an incline and keep the brake held for a peroid of time.  It gets very hot and starts to smell but will release if you sit beside the road and wait for it to cool down.  Please help

Answer
first check for contaminated brake fluid-if wrong fluid gets added or mixed with brake fluid it will swell rubber components and cause your symptoms-open brake resevoir and look at rubber seal on  cap make sure it is not swelled-look at fluid and make sure you don't see stuff floating on top of fluid like oil and water mix would look trying to seperate if that all looks good-you probably have a bad brake hose (they start coming apart inside and will trap fluid  either going or coming depending on how the pieces of deterioating rubber pieces fall.

also check valves on line coming from master cylinder can go bad
sticking caliper

good luck-is your mechanic at a shop or doing this at home?
