Ford Repair: Front end, wheel bearings, ball joints

Question
QUESTION: I have a new f150 4x4 truck. It has about 6500 miles on it. The steering wheel has develop an issue or issues. The feel of wheel is that it's less response to the right and the steering shakes under some road conditions. The roads that it shakes on are not what you would expect it to do. It also has a right walk. I took it back to the dealer and they replaced all four tires, They did has some wear on the outer edges. When I got the truck back, the above problems are still there but they are a little better. I took it back and they said I have to drive it 500 miles are more. I did and return it. They drove it to test the shake and they said it didn't shake (which could be true) because it doesn't shake on all roads. I be testing it on more roads and it does shake only when you are going 60 mph or more, but not on all roads (I would assume that some of the roads it does not shake on are really smooth), but it continues shake on some roads that you would not expect it to, My other cars don't. They didn't look at the other problems but they said that the other problems were the tires, hence they rebalanced them. I still have same problems, hence I can't believe it's the tires or the balance. They been balance (load too) three times!!!

What do you think?

ANSWER: The problem seems to be miss-alignment, have them check alignments on all four wheels.  If this does not solve it, check all ball joints and connecting rods.

QUESTION: Sam, I forgot to say that they did do an alignment I not sure if it was all four wheels. How do you check ball joints? Could it be wheel bearings? Thanks for your answer

Answer
To check ball joint, raise the car and inpsect the joints, make sure that their seals are not cracked.  Also, grap the steering rod and shake it.  It should not have any play in it....  As for wheell bearing it could be provided you hear grinding noise. All in all, I would recomend that you have a mechanic check those things as these repairs can be involved and need some experience to diagonse correctly.  Good luck...
