Ford Repair: cruise control, clock spring, cruise control

I have a1993 ford escort gt. The cruise does not work. I have been told that there is switch behind the turn signal lever that could be the problem. Does that sound right? The brake lights work.

your cruise control switch is in the column but before you start guessing what is wrong and wasting a lot of money guessing at which part to replace and being wrong-have it checked out i will say that if  you have an airbag-if your horn doesn't blow and cruise doesn't work it is probably a clock spring (this is for airbag operation has nothing to do with clock)  you still need someone to replace it unless you are sure
that is something you can handle.
