Ford Repair: 98 Ford Explorer Sport AC Question, oreilly auto parts, ford explorer sport

Question
98 Ford Explorer Sport 2Dr. 4.0L 6 Cyl.  AC Question: My AC works and works very well but it will cycle off and not come back on.  I replaced the Cycle Switch (Oreilly auto parts) and replaced the Hi-Limit switch.  Problem still happens.  I thought It might be related to a vacumn problem but did not see anything.  If I short our the two pins on the cycle switch it continues to work.  Any suggestions?

Answer
it shouldn't be a vacuum problem-next time it quits, with engine still running and ac switch still on take something and tap the front drive plate on the clutch and see if it engages if so air gap on clutch is either to wide (because of wear) you can adjust air gap. or pulley and drive plate is grooved so bad it will have to have new pulley and drive plate.
