Ford Repair: 1986 F-150, 5.0 E.F.I., fuel pressure gauge, fuel pump filter

Question
Yesterday my truck suddenly died on the highway going about 60 mph and wouldn't restart,so I towed it home and put the charger on it. It wouldn't start for a while, only turn over and cough and choke. It did finally start and idle on it's own,and if I gently give it some gas, it will rev up some. But as soon as I give it normal gas,it immediately dies again, so it appears to me it's starving for fuel. However, when i push the valve on the fuel rail, I get a good little squirt like I should. I installed a new high pressure fuel pump, filter and pressure regulator about 1 1/2 yrs. ago, so I'm thinking injector problems now, although this is my first E.F.I. and I don't really have a clue. I own the '86 Truck Shop Repair Manual, but I don't really want to remove everything it's telling me needs to be done to remove the injectors if I don't have to when I have no idea that's actually the problem. The manual has no troubleshooting tips or guides whatsoever, so how do I diagnose which injectors might be bad, and how would I test them? And are there any shortcuts to just removing an injector? I have a friend who has a fuel pressure gauge, so that will be step one, but I'm lost after that as to how to go about determining just what the problem is without just buying new parts and playing hit and miss. Any information and insight would be gratefully appreciated, because I don't know where to turn to for help, and I desperately need my truck.    Thank You kindly for your time.

Answer
Do you have a fuel gauge, or a fuel pressure tester. Because those are two different things? I don't think that you're problems are injector related. You need to find out if the fuel pressure is dropping as the R.P.M's increase. If the fuel pressure turns out to be fine, we need to look at things like the timing chain. If you don't have the correct tool, you can pick one up at most parts stores.
