Ford Repair: trailer light troubleshooting, sohc, fuses

Hi, I have a 97 explorer 4.0 SOHC. for some reason my lights to my trailer aren't working. I know its something on my vehicle because the lights on the trailer work. I was just wondering if you could help me out a little bit on where to check. Are there any fuses that i could have blown?

do the lights on the vehicle work-if they do then it is probably
to do with the wiring-loose grounds especially-get a small light tester that plugs into the connector that shows which lites are working from the truck through the harness it should cost between 5-9 dollars most of the time if truck lights are working your problem in trailer or how they are wired to truck.
