Ford Repair: Fuel economy, dodge truck, fuel economy

Question
I own a F-150 short bed step-side, 5.4 (SVT wannabee) and I love the truck, don't want to get rid of it but would like to do whatever I can within reason to enhance fuel economy - ideas?

Answer
you know all of the simple things like air pressure in tires-clean air filter-properly tuned etc. but be sure and use a synthetic oil not just a blend-like mobile one extended or amsoil if you drive distances regularly you will notice an immediate improvement-i have been using amsoil for about 6 years now on all my vehicles my ford focus was about a 1/2 mpg change but my 97 dodge truck was about 1 1/2 mpg improvement i was driving it 150 miles a day-be sure and use the proper weight a lot of older drivers insist on using a heavier weight than called for and that actually hurts mileage. those two oils are expensive but you can go longer between changes (been doing it in europe for years) that way it will pay for itself. hope this helps some.
