Ford Repair: Steering wheel lights, steering wheel, switch circuit

Question
Hi;

My 1999 Ford Explorer has burned out lights for the cruise controls in the steering wheel. Can you advise how I go about changing the lights. The airbag makes me think I should ask first rather than just trying to take the wheel apart.

Thanks,
Geoff

Answer
Hello Geoff, The switches have the lites made into the switch circuit board. In order to change them you will need to replace the switches. In the steering wheel. Hope this helps Thanks Tony

Hello Geoff, Sorry when I answered the question It was at work and has been very hectic. Disconnect the battery to disconnect power for the air bag, there are to covers on the back side of the steering wheelb behind those covers are to bolts,remove the bolts and that will lossen the airbag, carefully remove(do not have any power cords and do not use power tools for removal)the airbag. Carefully unplug the airbagyou will see the screws that hold the switches in. unplug the switches and reverse for install. Do be very carefull handling the airbag!!! Thanks Tony
