Ford Repair: ALTERNATOR INSTALLTION, belt tensioner, pully

Question
HI JAMES, THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE.  I NEED TO CHANGE THE ALTERNATOR IN MY FORD EXPLORER.  I PURCHASED THE ALTERNATOR, AND HAVE REMOVED THE OLD ONE.  THE QUESTION I HAVE IS THIS... HOW DO I ATTACH THE BELT TO THE ALTERNATOR?  THE BELT IS OBVIOUSLY TO TIGHT..  DO ONE OF THE PULLY'S NEED TO BE RELEASED?  SHOULD I ATTCH THE BELT BEFORE ATTACHING THE ALTERNATOR OR AFTER..?  THANKS AGAIN

Answer
Hi, no problem, that's what we are here for. You need to swing the belt tensioner  when installing the belt. Sounds like you are over thinking the problem. You're problem is not with you're alternator anymore. You're only task now is the same as if you had broken the belt or were simply servicing the belt. "Depending on the year" grab a service manual if you have never done it.
