Ford Repair: 1999Mercury Grand Marquis, interior door panel, splash shields

Question
A lot of water is accumulating behind the driver side in the rear passenger floor board /floor pan area. The carpet is soaked and water stands there. I cannot find the source of the leak.  Any ideas?

Answer
Billie,

Pull the drivers side front interior scuff plate and see if the drivers side front floor matting is wet. On a Grand Marquis, the car sits with the rear lower than the front. This lets the water accumulate in the rear, where you see it. Let me know if the front is wet.

With the interior trim removed, soak the drivers side of the car with a garden hose for about 1/2 to 1 hour. Look inside the car with a flashlight at the drivers side front floor.
Things that can be leaking on a Grand Marquis:
Inner door panel splash shields behind your interior door panel, door   opening weatherstrip could be torn or flat,
top of the "A" pillar seam, bottom of the "A" pillar seam, high cowl to "A" pillar seam(all under your cowl screen),
wheel well seam, bulk head seam or plug,
windshield set could be loose or leaking.
Also, check the trunk area and under the rear seat cushion to make sure it is dry.If you have a digital camera, you can send me pictures of what you are looking at.
