Ford Repair: my ford contour, ford contour, crank sensor

i have a 96' and when i bought it the waterpump needed to be replaced so it was but now my car will not start it sounds like it wants to turn over but it wont and people have told me it might be the alternator so i bought a alternator but now im not sure if the problem is that or the starter because when i turn the key it sounds like it wants to turn over and if i keep trying to turn the key it ends up draining the battery can u please tell me what is going on it is a 2.0 dual cam and im really frustreated because i dont have much money to fix it

Start with a fresh battery.If the engine turns over but fails to crank,then the starter and or alternator may not be the problem.Check you're spark plugs to make sure that they are not gas fouled,they probably are by now.The simple two apply to you're problem,fuel and fire.Look for a lack of either.Get you're hands on a code scanner,retrieve the engine codes.You may have a cam or crank sensor that has failed.
