Ford Repair: engine firing, pickup coil, faulty wiring

Question
I have a 1985 Ford F150 with a 302 that is overheating its coil. I have replaced the cdi, the pickup coil in the distributor and the coil. Do you have any idea what could be causing the coil to overheat?

Answer
Look for faulty wiring. Also, make surer the placement of the coil is clean and free of debris, corrosion, and or anything that doesn't belong.I would bet that you already did, just wanted to put it out there for you.Does the coil quit working? When did this start?
