Ford Repair: 03 F250 7.3L, check oil level, weather climates

Question
When its cold out side I'm having trouble with starting in the morning. I can start just fine at first but the truck dies after about 30 seconds. then it takes a while for the starter motor to turn the engine over again. Depending on how cold it is out side determines how often i have to restart the engine. after i get the engine to idle for more than a minute, if i try to put it in drive and step on the gas even a little it will die on me like i have just flooded the engine. again depending on how cold it is out side determines how long i have to wait before i can take off. I have been using a cetane boost with an injector cleaner in it, but not very regular - about 12 oz every other fill up

Answer
Hello Clint, A Diesel needs to turn over quickly in order to start. 1) check your batteries 2) check oil level, oil level is important. 3)check the glow plug relay/controller, even though the light comes on it may not be powering up the glow plugs, 4)Ford makes a 10w30 diesel weight oil for cold weather climates. Less resistance on the oil qicker it turns over. If you have a block heater plug it in to see if that helps. Hope this helps Thanks Tony
