Ford Repair: AC Clutch, clutch bearings, compressor clutch

Question
I hear a squealing coming from my AC compressor clutch asm and it is not engaging. Is it the clutch, Bearings? Is the compressor seized and hence broken the clutch asm? Any Insight? This is for a 1997 ford ranger v6 3.0

Answer
Hello Jeff, Very possible it is the clutch, the clutch can be replaced with out replaceing the compressor assembly. try turning on the a/c to see if it makes a difference in the noise. you can also remove the belt and turn the pulley by hand to feel for a rough bearing. Hope this helps Thanks Tony
