Ford Repair: Brakes seem weaker and take longer to work, 2005 ford taurus, ford taurus

Question
Tony,
I have a 2005 Ford Taurus.  Let me see if I can describe this.
Recently I noticed when braking, the brake pedal will hold and brake normally for a few seconds until it releases downward and the car is now back in motion. It will stop and brake for a few more seconds and release downward again. At this point it feels like my foot on the pedal is all the way underneath the dash.

Just to give you a picture:
brake > release > brake > release > brake
stop  > motion  > stop  > motion  > stop
All of this is on one push of the brake pedal with constant pressure.

I'm guessing I will need to take my car to a mechanic and get something fixed. I'm just looking for a heads up what to expect.
I hope my description was good enough to recognize the problem. If not, let me know with questions and I will try to answer them.

Jon

Answer
Hello Jon, Check for a external fluid leak with the entire brake system. The master cylinder may be blleding off internally also, check these items
Best of luck  Thanks Tony   Sorry tried to be as helpful as possible with your description, sometimes actually feeling/seeing the concern is better  Thanks Tony
