Ford Repair: 1999 Windstar 3.8L, mobil 1 oil filter, mobil 1 oil

Question
Hi James, I am having an oil consumption problem in my 3.8L engine. But, more importantly,a large amount of blow-by and condensation in the engine. There seems to be no coolant loss, or bubbles in coolant tank. Have changed PC valve, did not help. I live in northern Canada, and only have a short drive to work, so realize engine does not always get a chance to fully warm up, but this happens all the time, even on long trips and thermostat seems to be working correctly. What I would like to know, if you can help me is, what do you think is the problem... Valve seals, intake gaskets, or what. certanly appreciate any help, thanks.

Answer
Intake gaskets and more importantly piston rings are something to look at.Change you're oil at 1500 mile increments to try to reduce engine wear. Also try and put in an additive such as Teflon.I have had great success with Teflon.I use Mobil 1 Synthetic with the Mobil 1 oil filter for every day driving. If you do go with Mobil 1 you can get the normal 3000 miles or even further out of an oil change.I generally change my oil per fluid color and properties.Mobil 1 has the highest flash point of any other synthetic which means that it is very difficult to burn.
