Ford Repair: Altenator in my 99 Ford Ranger, ford ranger, charging system

Question
I was driving truck, the lights went dim, battery, ABS and check engine lights came on. Then the truck just died. I tried to crank it but the truck would not turn over. Yesterday I replaced the battery with a new one. Do you think that it is the altenator?

Answer
Hello Brandy, There is a built in regulator into the alternator. It controls electricial power to maintain the system and keep the battery charged. If the regulator sticks and not maintains properly then your battery has to do all the work. Yes, it is possible you may need an alternator also, have the charging system checked to see what alternator output is it should not be less than 13.5 Volts   Hopes this helps Thanks Tony
