Ford Repair: 1996 taurus, blow out, hot air

Our 1996 Taurus will only blow hot air out the heater floor duct when it is in the defrost mode.The air is hot enough,it just won't blow out the defroster ducts.Any ideas where to start checking would be of great help.Thanks!

Hello Michael, there is a door in the heater case that when you turn to that selection a motor rotates that door. I would say the door is broken off the rod or the motor is bad. There is a technical service bulletin 02-23-6 this may relate to your vehicle. Thanks for your question Tony
