Ford Repair: Ford F150 Service engine light on, ford f150, trouble code

I have a problem with my 2001 F150. A few nights ago I ran the gas almost to empty and it sputtered like it was running out, but did not. I got gas, and it was still sputtering every now and the. Yesterday the sputtering got a little worse and now I have a Service Engine soon light on. Could the light be caused buy a fouled plug. I plan to go to Auto Zone today and get them to hook up the computer to it, but it was running great till I almost ran the gas empty.

Without the trouble code it is hard to say.It sounds like you sucked some trash up into the fuel filter though.If you're code is system lean bank 1 and or 2,then tat is where I would start.Let us know what the trouble codes are and we can better help.
