Ford Repair: Throttle Cable, throttle position sensor, air control valve

Question
I have a 99 Ford escort zx2 2.0L DOHC, I have a lot of play in my throttle cable and my engine has been not getting the proper amount of fuel.  My RPM runs normally about 900 RPM on idle, however now it is fluctuating between 850 to stall... how do I adjust the throttle cable?  Or do I have to install a new one?  I cannot find a way to adjust it by tightening it...

Answer
I bet the check engine light is on .You have a couple of problems. The stalling is caused by a dirty idle air control valve. There should be some play in the throttle cable so I am not sure that it needs replacement.See if you're trouble code does not say throttle position sensor.
