Ford Repair: air intake, improving gas mileage, airbox

i have a ford explora which is VERY THIRSTY mainly because we tow a lot with it .I have been told that if i fit two vortex fans one before the airbox and one before the engine this will turbulate the air increasing m..p.g by approx 50% and will slightly improve pickup . Is this true and if so where can i purchase these vents (fans) from

  Unfortunately all of the products promising to produce a swirl effect in your intake are pretty much all hype.  There's really no silver bullet for improving gas mileage, and those things certainly won't get you anywhere near a 50% mpg increase.  You wouldn't need 2...1 would do the same thing and you *might* see a 1 or 2 mpg increase.  I honestly think they're a waste of money, but some people seem to think they have a mildly positive effect.  Hope this helps.
