Ford Repair: power steering, power steering leaks, engine displacement

have a 71'f100.the power steering leaks in the steering box,not the pump.can the seals be replaced in the box or does it need replacement?Is it a major job to replace myself? Thanks,Marc

Depending if it is 2WD and engine displacement I would definitely just replace the gear box.Rebuilding a gear box is quite the task.Replacing it shouldn't be too terrible if it is 2WD.A 2WD with a 302 is about $140 compared to a $26 kit and several days if you can even finish the rebuild.Just buy a rebuilt box.
