Ford Repair: 1995 ford bronco starter motor, ford bronco, nuts bolts

Question
Hi
The starter on my bronco has expired and I need to replace it asap.  I am thinking about trying to do the work myself but first need to know if this is realistic.  Do I need special tools?  With the correct guide is this something I can do reasonably easy?
Thanks!!!!!!!!

Answer
Yes. Of all car work, replacing a started is a good intermediate project to take on. As I will say in all my postings, you should have a service manual for the vehicle you are working on, which will cover this job. But replacing the starter is just a matter of removing 2 or 3 nuts/bolts that mount the starter to the engine or the transmission. Removing a couple nuts that are connections for the wiring. The rest is working the jigsaw puzzle that is removing the motor from the car past all of the things in the way. Some are super easy in this respect some are harder. Typically you don't need to remove much if anything in order to get the motor out of the vehicle. Here is something that most people won't tell you. You don't necessarily have to replace the starter. Auto parts stores sell certain repair parts for starters, like brushes, and sub-parts, etc. So if you have any experience with electric motors or want an extra challenge, consider saving a lot of money by repairing the starter yourself.
