Ford Repair: 98 Ford Windstar 3.8 L V6 GL, ford windstar, serpentine belts

Question
Hi and thanks for your time. I have a 73,000 miles on the Van and I have recently had both axels replaced. But the 2 things that bug me the most is.  After several serpentine belts and a new tensioner, it still makes that wineing schreeching noise. And I am told it cannot be fixed.
Also when the doors are closed, it still bings like there is something open which also keeps the lights on until it deceides it ready to stop binging.  That could take 10 min or 2 days.. We took out the major light bulbs, other wise they still stay on after the car is turned off.  Help if you can.  Thanks  Dianne

Answer
If the noise is that bad there is no reason it can't be fixed. Unforunately I cannot tell you what it is thru this forum, hope you can understand noises need to be heard to figure out. It may be the idler pulley or even an alternator bearing but without hearing it I cannot tell you exactly.

As for the chime and the lights staying on, most likely it is one of the switches in a door latch. This is the switch that signals the module to turn on the chime and lights. This switch is inside the door, attached to the latch. With a scanner you could see which switch is stuck, without a scanner it would be a matter of disconnecting each switch until you find the offending culprit. Even the tailgate has one of these switches. Make sure all your doors are closing properly too.
