Ford Repair: Battery light, ford f 150, test light

Question
Hello. My alternator went out and I replaced it along with a new battery. My battery light continues to stay on and the alternator and battery do not seem to be charging. Could it be a fuse or a voltage regulator? 1998 Ford F-150 XLT S 2WD, V-8, 5.4. thks for any advice....

Answer
There is a fuse in that system, but you'll have to check the manual to locate it.  (it would be labeled "ALT")
Another possibility is bad wiring between the battery and alternator.  Touch a test light to the large red wire going to the alternator-- it should have battery power all the way up to the alternator.  If that checks out, it's also possible that the engine is poorly grounded-- adding a ground strap from the alternator bracket to the ground side of the battery would help that. Hope this helps,
