Ford Repair: 95 tuarus, throttle position sensor, canister purge valve

Question
hi i have a 95 tuarus the when diving will "miss, or hesitate,(almost stall)" then come back. the other day after it did this i pulled in my driveway and it sputtered and finale died. but started right back up. you can smell hot plastic and when i took off the distributor cap there was a gray powdery sustance on the under side of the poles from cylinders one and two.my obe1 code checker is only coming up with one code which is that the canister purge valve of solenoid is blocked or faulty. lately I've replaced the plugs, wires, cap rotor, egr valve, throttle position sensor, air by pass valve.and air and fuel filters. i have no idea what this could be and would like to know if I'm missing something before i take it in for a diagnostic test (and admit defeat). thank's for any help you can give me . jack

Answer
Hello Jack,
You have replaced most of parts one would expect to be the cause of a problem like that. The pickup coil in the distributor is also another that comes to mind. If the vehicle has high mileage, the shaft in the distributor could be worn and causing a problem. The ignition module could also be another possible cause. I doubt the code has anything to do with it, but try unplugging it and see if the problem goes away. That is a sign that it might be shorted and shutting down the computer. Also check for vacuum leaks.
I hope this info can help. I'm sorry for taking so long to answer. Good luck!   Shaun.
