Dodge: Rattle when accelerating!, dodge ram 1500, chiltons manual

Question
I own a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd regular cab and I am experiencing a high pitch rattle coming from the front end of my truck when I accelerate. Do you know what could be causing this?

Answer
John,
Does it sound like the valves are clattering? Is the truck consuming any amount of oil?I just had to replace the plenum gasket on my 96 Dodge Ram.It was doing the same thing except was using more oil than usual. You can also check the vacuum on the engine to see if this is what the problem is.You'll need to buy a vacuum guage and i would also buy a haynes or chiltons manual from an auto parts store because if this is the problem you will need to torque all the bolts that you take out to the exact torque specifications. And i will say it's not a job that you can do in just a few minutes. It took me and a mechanic friend of mine about 6 hours. Also you'll need to buy some combustion cleaner from the dealership to clean out all of the oil that's built up inside the intake.Let me know. Thanks RamMan
