Ford Repair: 87 Grand Marquis Transmission Shifting, grand marquis, vacuum line

Question
I've been working on an 87 Grand Marquis with the 'F' 5.0L FI engine.  It was my mother's car and she stopped driving about 1 1/2 years ago - the car's been sitting in the garage since then.  I've replaced plugs, plug wires, 02 sensors, fluids & filters and the car is now running pretty well.  The problem I have now is that it upshifts through the gears pretty rapidly and does not downshift when it needs to.  I've checked the AT fluid; it's at the correct level and looks nice and clean.  The local parts store suggested adding Seafoam TransTune to free up any parts that may have gummed up while in storage.  I'm wondering if I might have dislodged a vacuum line while working on the other engine parts.  Any suggestion of what to look for?

Answer
Hello Vince,
There is a cable that is hooked to the throttle body and a lever on the transmission. If it is not hooked up, or misadjusted, the transmission doesn't have the proper throttle pressure. That will usually cause a short-shift like you are talking about. Check that first. Good luck, I hope this helps!   Shaun.
