Ford Repair: 87 Ranger, throttle position sensor, check fuel

Question
I have been trying to figure out an annoying problem. Whenever I
accelerate or try to I get alot of hesitation, and bucking, especially going
up hill. Once in a while it seems to run fine but most of the time I
can't get out of my own way. I have replaced the map sensor and checked
for obvious vaccuum hose problems. I just ran the OBD1 diagnostic, while
its on and not running I get no codes, but running I got a 13 which
says cannot control rpm during self-test low rpm check, and a 34 which
says EVP (EGR position) voltage above closed limit. Any Idea of the most
likely cause? Its a 2.3 4 cylinder.

Answer
Hi Paul,
The problem that you have could be unrelated to those codes you are receiving. Check fuel pressure (30 psi at least), and plugs and wires. As far as sensors are concerned, a throttle position sensor could be the culprit. Good luck!       Shaun.
