Ford Repair: EGR Valve, ford explorer 4x4, eddie bauer edition

Question
Ok,this is going to sound silly, but I have a 1992 Ford Explorer 4x4 Eddie Bauer Edition V6. Its not passing emissions,so Ive replaced all the necessary things, except the EGR Valve. There in lies my dilemma .......I cant find IT !!! Its not on top near the intake manifold as should be according to my Hayes manual. Im at a total loss. Any help at this point would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hello Stephanie,
To best answer your question, I need to know what state you are trying to pass an emmisions test in. I also need to know what readings (HC, CO, or NOx). NOx is only tested for in certain states under the IM240 test program only, which is in more populated cities. That is where they put the car/truck on a dynamometer(the wheels are spinning). If you are in a state where they do a "static" test, the EGR valve should have no bearing on the test results unless it is stuck open. Can you photocopy the failed emmisions test and email it to me? My email is tandmvegas@yahoo.com. Some Explorers were built without an EGR valve, depending on the state they were sold in, so yours might not even have one. I hope I can help you further!
