Ford Repair: T-5 transmission, ford 302, luck chris

Question
I'm working on swapping a Ford 302 into an '86 RX-7, and I've been looking into T-5 transmissions.

A friend of mine has a T-5 with bad synchros that he'd be willing to part with for free. I was thinking of just buying a rebuild kit and taking the time to rebuild it myself, but I wanted to know if that'd be something too far over my head.

I have a decent amount of experience with cars, enough to perform the swap, but I've never gone inside a tranny before. Would I be better off just buying one that works?

Thanks.

Answer
Hi Jeremiah, thanks for asking and sorry about the lond delay, been busy. Rebuilding a transmssion requirs alot of experience. They have to be assembled exactly to spec or there will be problems. There are many special tools, guidlines and specs that have to be followed, 95% of technicians cant even rebuild transmssions or even want to bother, because of how complicated they actualy are, I would recomend finding one that works
good luck
