Ford Repair: 94 Mercury Cougar, mercury cougar, mobil 1 synthetic

Question
Hello. Let me first thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I am not really having any problems with my car, but I just wanted to ask a quick question. I have a V8 4.6 litre Mercury Cougar with a pretty good working engine. I just wanted to get your opinion on using Lucas Oil Stabalizer. I started using it 2 oil changes ago, and it seems to be working just fine. I'm just asking if you think it is a good idea to use the oil stabalizer to preserve the quality of my engine, and if you have heard anything bad at all from using it. Thank you

Answer
Stephen-

Well...it's certainly not hurting anything.  It's a bit expensive and whether or not it really has a positive impact on anything is up for debate, but I've never heard of it actually harming anything.  One thing to keep in mind is that oil is a lot better these days than even 10 years ago, so there simply isn't a huge need for oil stabilizers.  Start with a good quality oil like Mobil 1 synthetic and you should be good to go regardless of whether or not you use Lucas stuff or products like it.  Hope this helps.
