Ford Repair: Windstar Transmission, auto repair shop, luck chris

Question
I have a 2000 Windstar and I"m getting conflicting information regarding the transmission.  I had one auto repair shop suggest that I flush the transmission.  I had a second auto repair shop say they would not recommend as they had seen the transmission go out a couple of months after the transmission was flushed.  Have you heard or seen this happen?

Answer
HI Angie thanks for asking and sorry about the long delay i got tied up this weekend..
Changing your transmission fluid regulalry is always a good idea. It is recomended that you do it every 50 000 km. BUt flushing the fluid depends on how bad the fluid is, and if you are having any issues with the transmission. If the fluid is completly burnt and you are having shifting issues then i wouldnt change the fluid I would just go ahead and have it overhauled. I think the best thing to do anyhow is flush the fluid anyways, because if the fluid is that bad the transmssion is on its way out anyway, DOnt let anyone convince you to add any additives with the fluid, I strongly disagree in the use of any additives in a transmssion because of its very tight specifications,
good luck
