Chrysler Repair: 1996 dodge caravan: no start, dodge caravan, code translation


Question
If first started to cut out when i was driving and then go back 2 or 3 hours later and it would start.now it starts for a split second and dies I changed the coil,pickup coil,relays,
I don't know what to do next

Hi Ray,
Fortunately you have a '96 which should have a self-diagnostic fault code readout by the ignition key. Turn it "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light, which remains 'on', to begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat the process to verify you get the same numbers of flashes. Then write back with the flash counts in the order of appearance for a code translation and what to do. The last two sets of flashes is always 5 each which means end of readout.
