-----Answer-----
Hi Lorenz thanks for asking.
I ran into this the other day with a 2001 Mustang. try having a new IAC motor installed (Idle air Control) When it starts to stick this is one of there symptoms.
good luck

Answer
Hi again..
I think you should be able to install this yourself. It is a very simple job and i am pretty sure the Iac motor is about 100 bucks new. all that you will need is a rachet, extension and a 10mm socket. It is bolted directly to the throttle body. Get the new part and you will be able to  immidiatly spot it under the hood. Just make sure on instalation that the gasket is reinstalled to make sure there are no vacuum leaks.
good luck
