Ford Repair: ranger missin, spark plug wires, cylinder misfire

Question
i have a 95 ford ranger 2.3 5 speed with 241,000 miles on it my question is about 50% of the time at about mid throttle it will start to "buck"  real bad if i take my foot off the gas OR floor it the bucking stops and (this is very weird) sometimes it does not happen at all??? i think it only happens at colder temps (25degrees )or less now before you laught i know 240k on a clutch should be a sign but i am not sure it is not fuel the bucking feels like gas or clutch but that it only happens sometimes has me bugged and before i start ripping into this i would like to know what you think

Answer
HI Bob thanks for asking.
this sounds like you just have a cylinder misfire. I would defintly check the tune up condition. Usualy a set of wires would cause this problem. With the engine running spray the spark plug wires with water from a spray bottle. If there is a bad wire then you will see spark arcing out from the wire that is bad. Make sure you plugs are good and have the proper gap. change fuel and air filters.  Clutches these days last a long time. I rarely change cluches any more. So I realy dont see that being an issue. there is a possiblitly of bad fuel, or water in the fuel. Bad fuel definitly will cause a bucking. The engine will seem to run normaly at idle but when you need power it just wants to die.  See if this does anything for you and if not get back to me.
