Ford Repair: 05 Escape gas pedal, electronic throttle, mechanical components

Sometimes when I step on the gas, I get no response. This is very troubling, especially in traffic. It is always when I am stopped and try to start up again. My husband thinks it is an electronic throttle and that there isn't any mechanical components he can adjust. I looked to see if this had been asked before, hopefully I'm not wasting your time with a repeat!

Your husband is correct. The throttle pedal is all electric and there is no cable. We like to call it "Fly by wire"

Chances are the throttle pedal is bad and may have set an check engine code. I would get it scanned to find out.
