Ford Repair: crowne victoria, lincoln town car, auto part stores

Question
Hi i have a question.  I have a 1980 Ford LTD Crowne Victoria.  I had just recently had a serious leak in the water pump of the car, i had the water pump replaced, and the car has a new radiator.  I have a problem with the heater, it gets hot, buts just barely blows any air out.  Its very weak and seems like maybe theres a hole or smething.  I've had someone look at it and they said that the hoses feel to be the correct temperature, so could it be the heater core? If so what would i have to do to fix this problem, can it be fixed without buying a new heater core?  also, i have a question about the car's acceleration, when it first starts up in the morning, and you try to accelerate, it acts as if it's plugged or something, it sputers and strugles to acclerate until the car is fully warmed.  but even after it is, it still ha a problem ih this but it gets better as the day progresses, I've checked and changed the transmssion fluid, this did not seem to help much.  Thanks for any info you can give me.  Ashley

Answer
Ashley,

It has been a long time since I have worked on one of these cars. Reminds me of my old 1983 Lincoln town car.

When you say barely blows any air out I assume it does it on all settings including vent, A/C and heat. You probably have a bad blower motor. They are not too hard to change and available at most auto part stores.

As the acceleration goes I am not sure if your car is carburated or fuel injected. Either way there are tons of possible causes and that old of a car has practically no self diagnostics. I would find a local old timer mechanic who could probably fix it in no time.

Good Luck!!
