Ford Repair: 1994 Explorer stalls while driving, egnition, cam sensor

Question
I have replace the fuel pump, fuel filter, Electronic control module,Fuel pressure value, Electronic Brain and the Relay's. I drove the truck from Texas to Chicago and it never stalled. But every couple of weeks it will stall
while driving it. I noticed when it stalls I can pull off the road, leave the key in the on position and wait to here the fuel pump turn on again. Then it starts right away.
I way told there is a cam sensor that can cause the egnition to turn off if it is bad. They said it would cost about $400.00 to replace. I was also told there is a secondary ignition control that may be bad. I didn't see a coil pack because I know there was a recall on the 1995 and newer trucks.
I did not change the Emergency cut off switch yet either.
If I can figure out why the fuel pump is turning off it would help.

Answer
Dan,

I agree on the cam or crank position sensor. You can get it done far cheaper than $400. In fact, the sensor is now available after market and it comes with the tool to put it in. This tool holds the cam sensor in place while the engine is on Top Dead Center. Also, you may want to replace the electrical part of your ignition switch. They are cheap also (10 bucks) and simple to replace.

One way to check is observe the check engine light right after it stalls. If it comes on your ECM still has power. If it does not then you have lost power to the ECM which in turn runs the fuel pump.

good luck!!
