Ford Repair: 98 FORD RANGER 4X4 AUTO 4.0L,, mass air flow sensor, ford ranger 4x4

ck engine light comes on,took to repair shop,codes P0171,P0172,system lean.they replaced a couple of 02 sensors,but the light comes back on usualy in cool mornings. truck runs fine,i cant aford to spend alot of money just replacing parts. any help would be greatly appreciated

There is a hot wire located inside the mass air flow sensor. This wire measures the airflow into the engine and is prone to get dust & dirt stuck on the wire. When this happens the truck runs a bit lean and causes a lean code to be set. You can remove and clean the MAF sensor, but use an electronic type cleaner or just air as it is fragile.
