Ford Repair: 98 Escort, dpfe, flow sensor

Question
My 98 escort intermittently bucks at steady speeds when you are neither accelerating nor coasting-giving it very light throttle. always when the engine is hot, sometimes clears up on its own. Engine revs slightly during shifting (manual trans) when the bucking problem is there.

Answer
Tom,

Sounds like an ignition miss. Do a good tune-up with plugs and wires and that usually clears the problem. If it still gives you trouble after that check your EGR valve flow sensor. It is called a DPFE or (Delta Pressure Feedback Sensor) they are common on all Fords.
