Ford Repair: elec., clock spring, body electronics

Question
i have an electric problem. 2001 f250 superduty 5.4gas, auto 4wd.
1. when it rains, moisture is present on floor mat drivers side. also elec. components under dash. dealer checked for leak around windshield -no leak found.

last time had to replace starter+sol.because of wet circuits it would not disengage.

currently when key is on,.   #1 relay under dash buzzing.
when key is off ac blower motor will not go off, also radio , drains battery overnite unles powered to off position.

now the kicker
i had the steering wheel clock spring replaced, old one broke. then turn signals / hazards would not work.
wipers ok / hi-lo ok
when hazard switch depressed i hear the click but no lites any where, turn signal is dead -no sound-no lies.

noooowww... at nite i turn on park lamps / nothing no p.l., no turn sig., no brake lites, tail lites or dash lites. H E L P!! ONLY HEADLITES WORK.

NO FUSES ARE BLOWN I'VE CHECKED & RE CHECKED.

I'M READY TO BLOW IT UP... ANY IDEAS?????????

Answer
Mike,

It sounds like you have a bad GEM module. Ford calls it a generic electronic module and it controls all the body electronics on your truck. Before you replace it though a pinout test really should be done at the module connector. This is basically testing all of the inputs and outputs that the module controls at the main plug to the GEM. If everything looks good then replace the Gem module.

Unless your good with electronics I would suggest letting a mechanic do it. If you want to try it though I may be able to email you some diagrams.

Let me know if you want to try it and I'll help where I can.
